Yes, I'm still at it. Attempt number three to make this bathroom look and feel more spa-like in spite of the fact that I hate the tile and the floor and the tile clash. Why anyone would think these two would go together is beyond me...
So, here is the bathroom from the realtor's ad:
So, here is the bathroom from the realtor's ad:
and here is my first attempt at changing it:
Lights are changed, walls & cupboard are painted Ben Moore Sundial, new sunshine yellow towels and a yellow shower curtain with yellow accessories.
and here is my second attempt:
New mirror, new hanging rack for towels, brown towels, brown shower curtain and brown accessories.
and now for the third time:
The walls may look yellowish in these photos, but they are off-white. I painted the storage shelving and the trim in the wall colour. I went shopping with a specific shower curtain pattern and colour in mind AND I FOUND IT!! How often does that happen??! I plan to buy some contrasting towels in the burlap/beige shade from the shower curtain and will be edging the curtain with burlap or white so it touches the floor. I spray painted the lights and bought new shades. The spray paint was chrome, but what came out of that can is more like Wizard of Oz tin man shade. Not what I thought it would be, but I have to say that since I smudged it up with fingerprints (unintentionally!), I like it much better! I painted the Ikea hook rack and the chrome mirror frame and then distressed them both. The mirror frame had a grey metal base that matches the lights - YAY! I even painted my lantern!
So what do you think? Hit or miss? When I walk into the room now, I actually feel really good - I think my poor bathroom has found its way into the cottage look of the rest of the house. Someday the tile will change and that floor will come up, but for now I'm happy.
Have a happy and creative week!
