I cannot believe how quickly this year flew by. It seems like only a month ago, I was painting up a storm in my master bedroom - leaving no surface untouched! But that was 12 months ago. Wow. Don't blink or it will be 2014 not the eve of 2013!!
So, as I said, my bedroom got a complete makeover - walls, furniture, no surface left untouched!
So the writing desk and chair got a coat of paint
Hmmm, then there was all the furniture painting going on. I discovered the wonders of home made chalk paint and there was no holding me back!
Then I got a wee bit addicted to modpodge and began painting AND adding paper to everything.
hmmm and that wasn't even a full list of the stuff that got painted INSIDE the house. Once the weather warmed up, I attacked my garden furniture as well.
I guess I'm beginning to understand why my year flew by so fast... I kept myself busy!!! Click on the link for Part 2 "2012 In Review - Part 2 The Projects".
Cheers!
Don't Miss Another Post!
So, as I said, my bedroom got a complete makeover - walls, furniture, no surface left untouched!
So the writing desk and chair got a coat of paint
Some vase fillers, a fairy light string and a piece of burlap doll up my cloche.
The dresser, mirror and another chair got painted as well.
The walls were painted Benjamin Moore Lenox Tan, oh and the closet doors got painted as well
:)
I used the Graphics Fairy French postcard image as my inspiration and hand drew it onto my bench. The other bench got painted and stenciled with a fleur-de-lis pattern.
The final touch came later in the summer when I found a vintage 5-panel door that I made over into my headboard.
and then gave it a decorative paint finish:
I began painting the trim in the house after this. Oy vey - what a job! and that led to painting my hallway, the doors, the bookcases and then the den and the bathroom and the kitchen and the mudroom. I'm thinking of renaming my blog "Help Me, I Can't Stop Painting!".
Living Room (including the door and coffee table)
Mudroom - walls, trim and furniture

ReplyDeleteUh, yeah, you definitely need to rename your blog - I think "Addicted to Paint" would be good! ;-) Wow, you were busy in 2012! The pieces I remember seeing way back when I first came across your blog are your turquoise door, the little turquoise & mod podge box, and the bookcases. And I see now that I missed a lot of your painting projects. I'll have to go back and check them out :-)

ReplyDeleteWow, Anne--you surely did do a lot of painting this year, and what gorgeous results! I am in love with the blue cabinet you did--making me think of what I have around that I could paint with blue chalkpaint! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, I found you on Gail's Catch as Can. I can tell you had a busy year. I recognize a lot of the furniture. I'm finally convinced now that it would be better to paint it, thanks to you!! Which paint did you use on the dresser and small table/bench next to it? Was it chalk paint? I know chalk paint adheres well to different surfaces, but even to the glossy, varnished surface of the dresser and table?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year from Belgium

I might have to try that homemade chalk paint trick! Does it work on melamine I wonder? I'll have to research that - I have a couple of cheapie pieces - you know the kind you buy at Walmart in an emergency?? That kind! Can't wait to see what you'll be up to in 2013!!
ReplyDeleteI love your home! Can I move in? lol Saving your turquoise dresser to my Turquoise Love page as inspiration for my own bedroom furniture. Now that homemade Christmas presents are done I'm looking forward to improving my home. Thanks for the inspiration!

You have SUCH a great place! Love that wide trim that you see in older houses. I think of you frequently because you live in one of my all-time favorite places. When I was growing up {in Calgary}, I always dreamed of living in Kimberley. :)
